Personal Cheerleaders make a Powerful Influence

I recently read the story by Jack Canfield, published in Chicken Soup for the Soul. It is a story of Monty Roberts who owns a horse ranch in San Ysidro. He had a group of people at his house for a fund raising event to help youth at risk programs.
He told his guests about a boy who was the son of an itinerant horse trainer. His father was constantly on the road looking for jobs. As a result the boy’s high school career was continually interrupted. When he was a senior, he was asked to write a paper about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up.
That night he wrote a seven-page paper describing his goal of someday owning a horse ranch. He wrote in great detail and he even drew a diagram of a 200-acre ranch, showing all of the buildings, the stables and the track. Then he drew a detailed floor plan for a 4,000-square-foot house that would sit on a 200-acre dream ranch.
He put a great deal of his heart into the project and the next day he handed it in to his teacher. Two days later he received his paper back. On the front page was a large red F with a note that read, “See me after class.”

Sometimes all of the media stuff can seem a bit confusing/overwhelming, especially when the “the other candidate isn’t telling the truth about me” kind of campaigning begins to happen (unfortunately, it seems like all of the candidates do it in one form or another). Frankly, I personally enjoy the political process we have in our nation. At the very least, I am grateful for the freedom and ability we have to be involved in choosing our leaders.
Some Christians have been disillusioned by the political process, and have decided to not be involved. I believe that there is a true call from God for Christians to be involved in every arena of our society including politics (salt and light influence everything they touch). Some of the greatest leaders of history have had vital relationships with the Lord and did not violate their own integrity while serving their governments (Joseph and Daniel are just two examples). There is much one person can do in making a difference:
